Features: Some Highlights
This projector has an interesting wedge shaped design that might have something to do with the air flow path for cooling this unit. It is off white in color, has top mounted lens shift control wheels for vertical and horizontal adjustments, rear panel mounted menu controls and inputs and a front centrally designed bayonet lens mount.
Designed as an install unit, it weighs in at 14.8 lbs. It would work equally well installed as a ceiling mount or on a cart or table top. Light output is 4200 Lumens so it is bright enough for most applications and with a fan noise of only 37db it is also unobtrusive to the viewer.
This projector comes without a lens and has 5 different lens options to cover a wide variety of projection needs. This unit provides lens shift to make off axis installation much easier. All of my testing was done with the Rear Projection Wide Lens <2.03>
This unit features a full array of rear panel inputs for two computers (one full set of BNC jacks); video inputs for composite, component, s-video, or HDMI; audio inputs for each in either RCA or 1/8’ Mini Jack. A monitor and audio output jack are also provided.
With a native resolution of 1280 X 800 this projector does a great job of matching the wide aspect ratio found on most of today’s new notebooks. It also does a good job of rescaling other sizes and keeping all but very small fonts readable.
Computer inputs are bright, clear, easy to read and uniform across the screen. Colors are an excellent match to the notebooks LCD screen too. Video from both computer, composite and component sources is excellent in both color and detail. The overall image has an almost film-like quality in its smoothness and detail.
For service this unit has only one large filter located on one side making cleaning quick and easy. The lamp is located on the opposite side making lamp replacements also very quick and easy.
Closed captioning is built in along with an RJ-45 jack and software for network monitoring of this unit.
Conclusion:
An excellent feature set, great detail and color reproduction, and ease of use make this 1280 X 800 Wide Format projector a must consider for anyone in the market for such a unit.
