Video Services Policies
Editing Reservation & Use Policies
- Only one session can be booked at a time; students working as a group can only book as 1.
- Customers may schedule another 2 hr. block when they come in for their current reservation.
- Even if there is no one scheduled in the editor in the next time slot, the customer must still reserve that time at the counter.
- Studios not used by one-half hour after the reservation time are subject to being given to someone else. The original order will be removed from the computer.
- The customer may call (756-7198) or make prior arrangements if circumstances prevent them from coming in on time so that their time slot will be held.
Digital Editors
- Digital Editor Authorization Form must be filled out and signed by the course instructor. Hard drives are assigned with and start and completion date for a maximum of 6 weeks .
- Reservations for digital editors need to be made at least one day in advance and between the indicated start and completion dates.
- If the project has not begun by 3 weeks after the indicated start date, the hard drive may be re-assigned to another project. The hard drive will be erased on the indicated completion date unless prior arrangements have been made.
ITS Media Server Accounts
An ITS Media Server Account Request Form must be completed and signed by a faculty or staff person to request an ITS Media Server account. By signing this form, a faculty or staff person agrees to the following:- To observe and comply with applicable laws and university policies, standards, guidelines and procedures including those involving intellectual property, copyright, accessibility (see http://accessibility.calpoly.edu/), responsible use and information security (http://security.calpoly.edu/policies/) and as set forth by this agreement. Abuse of these policies will result in immediate revocation of the account on the ITS MediaServer and may result in further action based on the applicable policy or law.
- The ITS MediaServer is to be used exclusively to support core academic instruction and accounts are only available to Cal Poly staff and faculty.
- Only QuickTime formatted media files will be hosted.
- Individual media files should not exceed fifty (50) MB in size or fifteen (15) minutes in length (please see “Web Stream” in the Encoding Service Request Form for specific format information). All account holders will be assigned a limited amount of disk space which is shared among users of individual colleges and departments. Media files hosted on the ITS MediaServer may be accessible from outside Cal Poly.
- Copyright protected material may not be posted without proper permission of the owner.
- ITS MediaServer support does not provide copies of the media hosted on the server. The master media set and backup copies are the responsibility of the account holder.
- ITS MediaServer account holders are responsible for removing files that are no longer being used. Media files may be stored on the ITS MediaServer for no more than one (1) calendar year from original upload date. Term extensions may be requested via e-mail to mds [at] calpoly [dot] edu. Files not identified for extension are subject to deletion.
- The personal login information is the sole responsibility of the account holder per the Cal Poly Responsible Use Policy and should not be shared with others. The account holder will be held responsible for any consequences resulting from the account holder authorizing another individual to access their account to upload or remove content.
