Media Captioning
"It is the policy of the California State University to make information technology resources and services accessible to all CSU students, faculty, staff, and the general public regardless of disability status (per) CSU Executive Order 926, which went into effect on January 1, 2005 ."
Educational and informational content presented on campus must be accessible to all students, faculty and staff. For example, web site content must be accessible to the visually impaired and video presentations with audio must be "captioned". Captioning (or subtitles) must be visible "for any time-based multimedia presentation (e.g., a movie, video, or animation.)"
Cal Poly recommends the following resources to add captions to your multimedia presentations.
- Captioning for Web and DVD/VHS Media
- YouTube Captions and Subtitles
- On-Campus "Do-It-Yourself" Video Captioning for Short Videos or Clips
